BOB: Lucky Horseshoe
BOB: Lucky Horseshoe
BOB: Lucky Horseshoe Coverage Area
Lucky Horseshoe is a small neighborhood that sits between Taylor Boulevard and Southern Parkway, between Central and Longfield Avenues. Churchill Downs makes up the largest park of Lucky Horseshoe, thus the neighborhood’s name.
Lucky Horseshoe is primarily residential, with only a few small businesses, such as Tickled Pink Memorabilia Mall.
Community Planning Sessions
GIVING RESIDENTS A SEAT AT THE TABLE
We held two community planning sessions at the Kentucky Derby Museum to gather input on what residents wanted to see in their community.
The community meetings also provide a great opportunity for us to explain what the BOB process looks like for their community.
There was a lot of interest in BOB since it was a brand new program, but also since Derby 150 was right around the corner.
After the planning sessions, residents were able to visit the Kentucky Derby Museum for free!
BIG BOB DAY!
The BOB Process
BOB’s BIGGEST day
Neighborhood Canvassing
DOOR-TO-DOOR, FACE-TO-FACE
The Lucky Horseshoe neighborhood was canvassed in February and March with volunteers going door-to-door with asking residents what they needed for their homes and what they wanted to see in their community.
Put door knocking effort was also joined by Louisville Grows as they were looking for residents interested in adopting a free tree that we would later plant.
BOB: Lucky Horseshoe culminated into a big day of celebration on Saturday, April 6th, 2024. The day included:
